Resources for Understanding the Eucharist

Get Adobe ReaderØ Download FDLC Catalog (pdf)

In his Apostolic letter of October 2004 inaugurating the Year of the Eucharist, Pope John Paul II urges that “Pastors should be committed to that “mystagogical” catechesis so dear to the Fathers of the Church, by which the faithful are helped to understand the meaning of the liturgy's words and actions, to pass from its signs to the mystery which they contain, and to enter into that mystery in every aspect of their lives.” The FDLC offers the following resources on the Eucharist to assist pastors and pastoral leaders in such a catechetical effort.

 Three Minute Liturgical Catechesis/
Catequesis Litúrgica en Tres Minutos

Written by Rev. Lawrence E. Mick for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati especially for the Year of the Eucharist, these twenty six reflections on the Mass are short enough to be read out before Mass or during the announcements, or included in the parish bulletin. Receive a master copy, either paper or as an Adobe Acrobat Reader (pdf) file and make as many as your parish needs with a royalty payment of $25 plus shipping and handling.

The Sacrifice of the Mass and our Call to Mission/
El Sacrificio de la Misa y Misión

Why is participating in a Word and Communion service as part of a Sunday Celebration in the Absence of a Priest not the same as celebrating the Eucharist? And why is that difference so important? In this six part series, Fr. Edward Foley presents the distinctive elements that distinguish the Mass from Communion services and in so doing explores a rich understanding of the action of the Eucharist.  Bulletin insert: receive a master copy, either paper or as an Adobe Acrobat Reader (pdf) file and make as many copies as your parish needs with a royalty payment of $50 for up to 500 copies, $75 for up to 1,000, $100 for over 1000 copies of the set (plus shipping and handling).
